THE PRESS @ MIDTOWN QUARTER APARTMENTS

Sacramento, California

The project reached completion in 2020, this 5-story, 342,000 sq ft mixed-use apartment for Debartolo Development covers a full-block in mid-town Sacramento, California. In addition to ground-floor retail and 277 apartments, the building provides a top floor lounge with views to downtown, as well as a pool and half-acre central courtyard. A wide range of apartment units are provided, including, micros, studios, 1,2, and 3 bedroom units and two-story loft units. Part of the existing parking structure was reused for below-grade parking. The building form was inspired by the printing presses of the adjacent Sacramento Bee newspaper and features two L-shaped buildings that create the central courtyard. With over 1,300 linear feet of street façade, the exterior design focused on breaking down the scale of the buildings and responding to the individual characteristics of each street corner, while maintaining a dynamic and cohesive whole.

The project was awarded 2020 Project of the Year by the Sacramento Business Journal.
